Clemson Master Equine Managers Certification

The purpose of this course is to provide professional certification and comprehensive knowledge of equines to all that may be involved in their routine care. The course will provide both classroom and hands-on, practical horse management techniques, essential whether you're a horse owner, stable manager, farm employee, groom, or are looking to expand your horse knowledge. It is recommended that someone have at least 5 years of equine management experience before taking this course.

This course is open to all adults and will cover topics relating to:

  • Welfare: Understanding Horse Behavior, Facility Safety and Design, Proper Use of Equipment
  • Farm Management: Barn Economics and Pasture Management
  • Horse Nutrition: Forages for Horses, Feeds and Feeding, Nutritional Diseases
  • Horse Health: Equine Emergency Treatment, Vaccinations for Horses, Understanding Hoof Care
  • Selection of Horses: Conformation and Evaluation
  • Practical Horse Skills: safe handling, equine first aid, weighing and body condition scoring, feed tag inspection and analysis, identifying unsoundness.

Approved by Certified Horsemanship Association for CE credit for recertification.

Program Fee: $150/adult

SCHEDULE:

Thursday 10 AM to 5:30 PM with included dinner at 6 PM

Friday 8:30 AM to 4 PM (lunch included)
